Welmoed fan shares his memorable moment
One of our loyal supporters, George Britz recently shared his Welmoed memorable moment.
He wrote:
“This moment was as in a time-capsule of eternally tranquillity, love and peace – to be able to enjoy Gods creation with my wonderful wife, Elsie. Just, as it is important to have a balanced blend of ingredients and time for a good Red Wine in making – this moment added to our near 34 years of marriage (December 2011).”
Thank you George for sharing your moment and for your loyal support of our brand. As a token of our appreciation we will sent you a few bottles of Welmoed Viognier and Welmoed Pinotage.

Welmoed Wines Shine with a trio of Veritas Silver Awards
Welmoed, the South African wine known for its centuries of handcrafted tradition with a modern twist, simply shined this weekend after scooping up three silver medals at the 21st annual Veritas Awards ceremony.
The Veritas Awards is South Africa’s biggest wine competition, and is widely regarded as its most highly esteemed indicator of quality, market-ready wines.
The three Veritas silver medals were awarded to Welmoed Heyden’s Courage White 2009, which also took silver at the prestigious 2011 Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, Welmoed Heyden’s Courage Red 2009, and finally, Welmoed Sauvignon Blanc 2011, which will also be featured in the 2012 edition of Wine Magazine’s Best Value Wine Guide.
A tribute to one of the farm’s first owners, Jacobus van der Heyden, the Welmoed ‘Heyden’s Courage’ reserve range of wines shun convention with its unique blend of diverse varietals in both Red and White.
Welmoed Heyden’s Courage White 2009 – a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Verdelho, Chardonnay, Viognier and Gewurtztraminer – is a medium-to-full bodied wine characterised by a complex balance of fresh fruit, grassy notes and a tropical nose.
The second silver-awarded wine, the Welmoed Heyden’s Courage Red 2009, is a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. With a deep red colour and ripe blackberry fruit, this wine offers seamless tannins and well integrated oak.
Completing the trio, the Welmoed Sauvignon Blanc 2011 is a fresh, easy-drinking wine that offers excellent value-for-money with its layers of gooseberry, lemongrass and tropical fruit flavours.
“One always wants to be recognised for the good quality of one’s wine, and I’m simply delighted that we’ve managed to win a few accolades along the way,” says proud winemaker Bernard Claassen.
Welmoed Sauvignon Blanc wines sells at approximately R34 in leading outlets, whilst the reserve Welmoed Heyden’s Courage wines are available at chosen boutique wine stores at around R44 per bottle.

Gesundheit- We are at this year’s Südafrika Weinshow 2011
This weekend we will be part of the German generic ‘Südafrika Weinshow’ in Berlin.
This show is seen as one of the best-established country wine shows on the German market and Welmoed Wines are looking forward to exhibit our wide range of wines on this event.
We will present a few of our excellent red, white and rosé wines but we are most excited about presenting our recently launched our uniquely-styled Viognier wine. This is the first time it’s been available for tasting. This wine was intentionally harvested a bit earlier to retain fresh aromas on the nose, the wine shows beautiful varietal characters of peach and floral notes while the palate delivers rich flavours of nectarine, lychee and musk.
If you at this show, please join us for a glass of wine.
Gesundheit from Berlin!
